ATLANTA, GA – JANUARY 04, 2025 – Following the successful reverse launch of the Atlanta Phambili Initiative in South Africa, the Global Opportunities Committee (GOC) of the Atlanta Black Chambers (ABC) celebrates the visionary leadership of U.S. Ambassador to South Africa, Reuben Brigety II, and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. This groundbreaking collaboration highlights the transformative potential of strategic partnerships in fostering economic growth and cultural exchange between Atlanta and South Africa.
While conveying the warm gratitude of the President/CEO of ABC, Melvin M. Coleman, MBA, Ricardo Berrís and Co-Chair Jennifer Barbosa noted: “Ambassador Brigety, your foresight and commitment to building bridges across the Atlantic have been pivotal to the success of this initiative. Mayor Dickens, your unwavering advocacy and dynamic leadership have elevated Atlanta’s global profile. Together, you have laid a strong foundation for partnerships that promise transformative opportunities for communities in both regions.”
“The partnerships forged during this trip are a testament to the initiative’s transformative power,” said Berris and Barbosa. “We eagerly look forward to hosting the South African delegation in Atlanta in February 2025 as part of the inbound delegation into Atlanta. This milestone will further align Atlanta and South African leaders in fostering economic growth, cultural exchange, and mutual prosperity.”
The delegation’s visit to South Africa underscored the initiative’s potential, bolstered by USAID’s endorsement of the Atlanta Phambili Initiative. This endorsement highlights confidence in the program’s mission to strengthen trade and cultural ties between Atlanta and South Africa.
